If so, let the environmental club help you recycle those old cell phones and you can earn a chance to win a free tardy pass! Just turn in your old cell phone to Ms. Miller’s room and get a raffle ticket. The more cell phones you turn in the more chances you get to win the prize. Must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher. Deadline is Feb. 10th. US Bank has a random scholarship drawing worth $1,000, apply online at usbank.com/studentbanking. The Society of Women Engineers is looking for female CO or WY seniors who intend to enroll in engineering or computer science. The deadline is Feb. 2nd for the $500 scholarship. The UW ROTC program is offering scholarship recipients full tuition, fees, $1,200 for books, $300 per month stipend plus room & board benefits. Stop by the guidance office and take advantage of these opportunities!

STUDENTS: today, as everyone returns from lunch, Key Club members will be standing at all of the school entrances collecting change for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, which they will be doing around town that evening. This year the funds will go to "The Swazi Children Care Project." 15 Million, yes, 15 million children have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS, which is equal to the number of students attending college in the US. Approximately 40% of the adult population in Swaziland is infected with the HIV virus, making it the country most seriously affected by HIV/AIDS in the world. Please bring your piggy bank of change or just what you have in your pocket to help Key Club with its efforts for the children of Swaziland. Hughes/Peart

HEALTH SCREENINGS - on Tuesday starting at 7 AM in the Home Economics Room. If you would like to participate, please stop by the nurse's office and sign up for a time and get your permission slip. If you are under 18 you must have parental permission to participate. Also, you will need to bring cash, or a check made out to School District # 25. A 12 hour fast is required so be sure you do not eat before you come, unless you are a diabetic. There will be a light breakfast provided for participants following the blood draw. The Elks National Foundation is offering 500 most valuable student scholarships, ranging from $60,000 to $1,000 per year for four years. An extensive application process is involved, start early. Deadline is January 9. Seniors you are invited to compete for the Jefferson Scholarship to the University of Virginia.
