NEW SCHOLARSHIPS:
· McCarthy, Winner & Thorpe Scholarships worth varying amounts for Native American seniors. Deadline of Feb. 1st is fast approaching. Pick up your applications on the guidance counter.
· There are 3 Fremont County Commissioners Scholarships valued at $1,000 and must be used in the state of WY. Deadline is April 15.
· UW’s Multicultural Pride Scholarships of $1,000 - $2,000. Must demonstrate leadership, involvement in multicultural issues and a 2.5 GPA or higher. Deadline is March 1.
· The Northern Plains Eye Foundation is announcing their $1,000 Health-Care Education Scholarships for seniors planning to study in health-care related studies. You must have a GPA of 3.8 and ACT of 28. Deadline is March 1.
· Students interested in pursuing a health care career might want to consider the Billings Clinic Scholarships worth varying amounts from $200 to $2,000. These scholarships may be used in Montana or Wyoming. Deadline is March 31.
· The Hearst Scholars Award Program at UW will award several scholarships of varying amounts. You must plan to attend UW as a full-time student and you must be a member of one of the listed minority groups. Application and further information is available on the guidance counter.

STUDENTS: Today is the RHS Health Fair. Go to your normal classes and your teachers will tell you when you are scheduled to attend. You must first report to class, or you will be marked absent. When you enter the Health Fair, which is in the gym, you need to get your hand stamped and pick up a copy of the Health Fair Scavenger Hunt. Complete the hunt during the time you are there and turn it in before you leave. Then you will return to your class before the bell rings. If you do not report back to your class you will be considered truant. There will be some awesome door prizes and you can't win if you don't participate, so be sure to turn in your completed scavenger hunt sheet. RHS Health Committee

STUDENTS: Wednesday is the RHS Health Fair. You need to go to all of your classes and your teachers will release you when you are scheduled to attend. When you enter the gym you will get your hand stamped. At the end of the class period you will be released to return to your class. If you do not go back to class, or return without a stamp, you will be considered truant. Be sure that you visit with exhibitors and pick up the information that they have brought to share. WEST MEX CONTEST: There were 50 entries in the contest this year and they selected only six recipe entries to come to Cheyenne to their research center. Of the six invited teams Riverton High School has three teams; we represent 50% of the chosen entries. The winning team members will receive $1000.00 in scholarships and the second place team will receive $500.00 in scholarship monies. Those students selected were: Megan Hough and Michael Jones, Tom Wright and Caleb Mills, Trent Larkey and Jacklynn Wiggins. Congratulations to all the RHS students that participated in this contest, they learned about demographics, menu pricing, proportioning and creating a written recipe. Rivers

You must have a form signed by your parents in order to receive the shot. They are asking for a donation of $10. The form went home in the last RHS newsletter, but if you need another form, you may pick one up from Mr. DeClue in the nurse's office. MORE SCHOLARSHIPS, SENIORS TAKE NOTE!
*The Meridian Trust Scholarship for WY schools only. Must have a 2.5 or higher GPA and your family must be a member of the Meridian Trust Credit Union. Deadline is April 30.
*The WY Game Wardens Assoc is offering 14 scholarships worth $350 to students with financial need. This may be used within the state of WY or out-of-state colleges. Deadline is March 1.
*The P.E.O. chapter H $500 scholarship is being offered to RHS senior girls. You must apply by April 15th.
*The Linda Kinne Memorial Scholarship, valued at $500 for a boy and a girl from RHS. This may be used at any accredited college. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA and plan on studying in the field of education. Deadline is March 15.

SENIORS we have several new scholarships!
*Encana is looking for students interested in the natural gas industry to apply for their $10,000 scholarship. This can be for a 2 year or 4 year diploma or a certificate in the trades program. Your field of study can be in engineering, geology, geophysics or trades programs relative to the oil and gas industry. Deadline is April 1st. *Nordmeier/Tafoya Scholarship, a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one or more individuals having a permanent disability. This scholarship is for students planning on attending a Montana college or technical school. Deadline is April 15th.
*Kaiser Foundation Scholarship, $3,000 per year and may be renewed for an additional 4 years. You must have at least a 2.5 GPA to qualify, deadline is March 10th.
*Chief Washakie Scholarship, the annual awards vary. This scholarship is for UW and can be for a full-time or part-time student. You must have close ties to the Wind River Reservation community. Deadline is March 1st.
